Advantages of EMDR Therapy

EMDR is highly effective in helping people process emotional pain and traumatic experiences, including those who suffer from PTSD, or have survived sexual abuse.  When used with other therapy modalities, EMDR helps clients move quickly from high anxiety and distress to a resolution of the initial traumatic experience.  Studies consistently show that treatment with EMDR result in elimination of the targeted emotion. The memory of the traumatic event remains but the negative response is neutralized.

EMDR sessions work very fast.  Even the most difficult memories can be resolved  in a fraction of the time it would take with traditional therapies, that often focus on the analysis of unconscious memories to discover their meaning and gain insight about the problem.  EMDR clients can acquire valuable insights during therapy, but EMDR short-cuts the process and goes directly to the releasing stage.

The long-term results of EMDR benefit the client’s mental, emotional and physical well-being, returning their emotional responses to normal and health.
