Who discovered EMDR?
When Dr. Francine Shapiro made the observation that certain eye movements in some of her clients reduced the intensity of their disturbing thoughts, she decided to study the phenomenon. In 1989, Dr. Shapiro reported the success of her scientifically studied method, EMDR, in treating trauma victims in the Journal of Traumatic Stress.
Since then, therapists around the world have helped develop EMDR into the highly effective technique it is today.
